Outside the Comfort Zone
Every year I make a New Year’s resolution of sorts. Instead of promising myself to accomplish something like bungee jumping or swearing off potato chips or volunteering at an animal shelter, I prefer to try to improve my general outlook. For example, this year I attempted to be more mindful of my words and actions – although I have to admit that didn’t go too smoothly, especially during the last few months. However, this year I’ve decided to move outside my comfort zone and take more risks. When I find myself feeling hesitant to take a chance, especially on something that could benefit me or my career, I’ll give myself an extra little shove forward. After all, life keeps getting shorter . . . but my list of dreams keeps growing longer.
